We recently celebrated the end of the 2015 harvest with a braai (South African for BBQ) up at the cellar!
We started a bit earlier than last year and have worked hard to harvest a total of 20 088 grapes. It’s slightly less than last year’s bounty, but “the quality certainly makes up for it,” says Wilhelm, the viticulturalist at Stellar. “It’s the best year I’ve had at Stellar so far. This could be our best season yet.”
The word from our winemaker, Klaas Coetzee, is that, “It’s been a great harvest. The quality of our red and white wines are looking very good.” Wilhelm was also proud to report that it’s been a great year for the reds and the flavours of the white wines are “extremely good.”
The perfectly even weather has been a huge factor in the great quality of this season’s wines. We’ve had just the right amount of wind throughout the season and cool temperatures at night. We’re also happy to have had a season without any heat waves and, on the other end of the weather chart, only a millimetre of rain at the very end.
We’re proud of our team’s hard work and positivity around the new season wines. Well done and thank you to all those involved. Cheers!
