Every school holiday in South Africa, the Stellar Foundation and a dedicated team of volunteers set out to feed the Klawer community children. These children are left at home to fend for themselves and end up going hungry while their parents are out working.
It was a pleasure to serve them a total of 3657 hearty meals during the December – January holidays. The team whipped up dishes like delicious bolognaise with cucumber salad, fish with veggies, beef stew with rice and a variety of veggies, a traditional curry with rice and sweet pumpkin and more.
In other news, Stellar’s Social Development Officer, Irene Dell, contacted the town mayor, who agreed to make some much-needed improvements on the municipal building where the feeding project is based. Believe it or not, Irene did this all while preparing to give birth to a healthy baby boy, who was born soon after.
It’s been quite encouraging to see the feeding project grow, making a greater impact every school holiday. Thank you to all those who continue to make this wonderful initiative possible at the end of every school term. We look forward to filling many more empty bellies next time.
