Fairtrade South Africa will be promoting wines from South African Fairtrade producers at the Winter Good Food and Wine Show, Cape Town International Convention Centre 13-16 May. Stellar will be there, along with Palesa, Thandi, Tukulu and Stellenrust. Come along to stand S44, taste our new-vintage no-sulphur Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and find out how Fairtrade is making a difference in the SA wine industry.

Stellar was honoured to host visitors from the People's Republic of China, Germany and the UK during April/May.
Our guest from China was Mr Leo Li of the China Wine Museum in Shanghai, who came to visit the cellar with a view to cementing a relationship that has been built up via email over the past year. It was Leo's first visit to South Africa and in his own words, the visit left a "deep and lasting impression" on him.
Peter Riegel and his wife Gisi, of Peter Riegel Weinimport, Stellar's first overseas agent, came with a number of items on their agenda. Riegel Weinimport has been hugely supportive of the Stellar Fairtrade Trust Soccer Project, which aims to establish a soccer field, volleyball court and changing and spectator facilities. Peter ceremonially kick-started the construction phase of the project. Gisi, whose special interest has been the pre-school, was delighted with the progress made since the appointment of Mrs Hester Theys as teacher in charge. Hester is also the Grade R teacher at Trawal Primary School, which has just acquired a new Grade R classroom.
Also visiting from Germany was Mr Ralf Schwartz from Tegut Supermarkets, who were instrumental in funding the organic vegetable garden.
Lastly, a team from the Coop in the UK came to Stellar for a brief visit to taste the latest vintage.
For the 10 years of Stellar's existence, the cellar has been roofless, a situation that's presented our winemaking team with considerable challenges.
Finally, this situation is being rectified. Martin Theys and his team are hard at work and the completion of the roof is within sight.
Valentine's Day and Easter are two occasions that usually pass
by relatively unnoticed in the hectic rush of harvest time, but this year we decided to make a bit of a splash.
Valentine's Day cards were handed out to the staff and a lucky draw was held, with the winner receiving a hamper of Stellar products.
The pre-school children took the opportunity to strut their stuff in red and white.
At Easter, the staff were treated to warm hot cross buns at tea-time. Stellar sponsored a colouring-in competition for the children at Trawal Primary School.
Winners in each age group received a hamper of crayons, colouring-in books, stationery and a beanie for the upcoming colde days of winter.
Easter eggs were handed out to all the children and loads of fun was had by all!
