This wine was aged for 2 years in 2nd fill French and American barrels. The wine has a medium colour intensity with a brick red colour surrounded by a clear rim.
The nose is not too intense. It starts with dark Angostura bitters but quickly evolves to a more fragrant spicy cinnamon and sandalwood through fresh limes and ends with hints of a pine forest on a hot day.
The initial taste is complex with tannins at first appearing smooth but quickly becoming stronger. This wine will need another month of so for these disjointed tannins to settle after the bottling and will need another 6-12 months to become more integrated with the wine.
