Stellar Learnerships Class of 2014

Stellar Foundation Learnerships Are Working for Stellar Employees

In South Africa, tertiary education and formal training are very expensive, leaving a large chunk of the population without the skills they need to excel in their careers. To make the future a little brighter for Stellar employees, Stellar has provided nine individuals in junior and middle management positions with learnerships.

The learnerships cover a Generic Management course (NQF 4), which consists of 30% theory and  70% practical classes. The course is divided into seven modules. These modules are Communication; Mathematics; Management Principles; Customer Service in the Supply Chain; Occupational Health and Safety; Team Objectives and Action Plans; Problem Solving; Decision Making and Team Productivity and Team Motivation. As a next step, these learners will eventually be able to obtain a National Diploma or even a Degree.

The learners were assessed for readiness in October last year, and based on the results, eight of the nine new students had to undergo a bridging course in Numeracy and English Communication. They all passed with flying colours, and are looking forward to starting their Generic Management training in April 2014.

Optimum Training Technologies from Cape Town was chosen as the Training Provider best suited to our training needs. All training materials are SAQA accredited and 24 unit standards to the value of 154 credits are covered. A Certificate will be awarded to those learners who successfully complete the course after one year.

To Stellar it’s yet another milestone in empowering our workforce, a few individuals at a time, with the knowledge and skills they need to reach their full potential in the workplace and to fill their paths with opportunity.

The learners are:

Harold Jones, Jason Mundell, Kyle Weeks, Marco Theys, Monica Klaasse, Theunissen Lucas, Riaan de Klerk, Jan Sneyers and Albertus Smith.
